I realize this is by design, but it needs to change. The artificial limitation of only allowing the white space management settings when deployed on the standalone install is unnecessarily restrictive and makes no sense. Many apps actually require this setting to work as extra whitespace will break their ajax calls. With more and more people using things like CommandBox to run their Adobe servers, it's becoming an issue that this setting is not available to them.

Lucee Server also makes this setting available at all times regardless of the servlet container in use or the installation method. Please make whitespace management work independently of the servlet container so it's always available. This will make CF easier to use in alternative installations.

Comments:

It's a nonsense excuse that this hasn't been implemented on J2EE installs. Should be fixed.

+1 Core functional behavior should not be affected by the deployment method.

white space should be suppressed by default with an option to turn it on (although why you would ever want random white space is beyond me)

I agree with Brad's comment. With more and more people using CommandBox this should be enabled.

Why did the "Failure Type" get changed from 'Non Functioning' to an empty value?
