Oh: raised as a BUG because whatever is sensible to be implemented in CFScript is already supposed to be implemented as such (it was one of the reported features of CF9)

If this is fixed, what is the syntax? Neither function nor script-based tag syntax is working CF 10 update 11.

It is not fixed for CF 10 update 11. It will be fixed for the next release.

Sorry to be thick, but either this isn't fixed in ColdFusion 10 Update 17, or I don't know what the syntax for this is. Related, as a matter of how the bugbase works, this issue says it's "Fixed In Build 284533", but that means nothing to me. Is there any way fixed-in could be reported in some way that correlates with information visible in CF Admin?

We added the generic script syntax in CF 11 and that should cover this. We have updated the "Fixed in build" to indicate the same.

Thanks for clarifying Rupesh, and for the fix. Why wasn't it fixed in CF 10 also, given that this bug is three years old, and as I understand it, the feature was promised in CF 9? Is there an actual policy to fix things in the most recent release only? I hope not.

This is not a bug but an enhancements and this was addressed with new "Generic Script syntax" feature introduced in ColdFusion 11. New features can't be added in the older releases.
