As someone who has used CF for a while, I knew the command to start CF, but if CF Express is meant to introduce people to CF, the readme should tell people how to start it.

Yeah, even as someone who *is* used to CF... how the new Express version worked in this regard was not immediately obvious to begin with.

Assigning it to DJ to add the following to the README file in CF Express installation. 1. On Windows – Double-click the cfstart.bat file to start ColdFusion Express. 2. On Linux – From a terminal window, run the cfstart.sh file as a privileged user.
