The Oracle JDBC drivers for CF9/CF10 packaged in ColdFusion9/lib/macromedia_drivers.jar support up to Oracle 11g R2 only. 

Oracle 12c has been out since June of 2013.

When will 12c be natively supported?

The support for Oracle 12c is there in ColdFusion 11. As of now, we don't have any plans to add this support in ColdFusion 9/10.

I represent a pretty big company where Oracle 12c is on the road map. I'm sure there are other "big" companies out there as well in a similar situation. Oracle12c has been out since last June and yet Adobe's answer is that 12c won't be supported until CF 11 whose release date hasn't even been announced as of this writing? Really?

As expensive as CF is, companies are running away from CF Server in droves. Many are looking for people who know both CF and another language, to port their CF applications to something else. Why on Earth would Adobe hasten this process by not supporting Oracle 12c in CF9/10? Makes zero sense.

Ah.. regarding the text next to my vote.. of course, how could I have missed such an easy explanation? If CF9/10 don't support Oracle 12c, but CF11 does, then many companies will have to shell out more $$$ for it. Again, the bottom line is the almighty dollar. Hail!
