Problem Description: We are running CF 9.02 with all latest hotfixes and security updates. When we upgraded to Java 1.7, my SOLR collections disappeared and I get a java permission error with any SOLR interaction, both from the CF Admin and programmatically. I was able to reproduce the exact same result on my dev server when moving to Java 1.7. If I completely turn off sandbox security, SOLR collections reappear and work normally. If I revert to Java 1.6 the SOLR collections work normally (with or without sandbox security on).

Others have had the same issue. I have tried adding explicit file/dir permissions in sandbox security per this link: http://www.raymondcamden.com/forums/messages.cfm?threadid=C7AAEF44-AFD9-DA8C-3501000AAE48129C - no change.

I have fiddled with the java security policy file - no change. I have modified the SOLR config file to point to the new JVM directory with 1.7 - no change. I have tried installing Java 1.7 both inside the CF9/runtime directory and outside the cf9 directory - no change.

Disabling sandbox security is not an option on a production server, so I had to go back to Java 1.6.

There is a problem with the interaction between SOLR / sandbox security / and Java 1.7

Comments:

I've seen this too on on dev boxes where we are testing Solr on Java 1.7 Sandboxing has to be turned off or it won't work.
