Problem Description:
It is not possible to generate an EAR or WAR file from the installer without elevated (Administrator) privileges.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start the installer.
2. When prompted for user credentials, provide the credentials of a regular user.

Actual Result:
Installer exits

Expected Result:
Installer continues and on the screen to pick an installation type only JEE installation is enabled.

Any Workarounds:
Ask a system administrator

Jochem, Even with EAR/WAR packaging, certain services(Solr/.NET) can be installed by the CF installer. Can disabling the UAC be an option? Ref. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa369519(v=vs.85).aspx

Now that we have war/ear available for download, is this even required? I feel it is not required to be fixed.

I think you are right, the WAR downloads make this issue obsolete.

With CF11 we now have prepackaged CF WAR installers (the so called Express Installers) that can be used off the shelf. So you need not run the CF server installer to create the WAR/EAR file. Just download the WAR zip file and deploy it on the the desired Application server. closing this.
