Update 3 deletes all tasks on CF start

Repro:
1) Create any scheduled task (One-Time, Recurring, Daily every, or Crontime).
2) Restart CF
3) Login to CF Admin and see task was deleted

note: If starting CF via Windows Services applet, then coldfusion.exe will crash ~50% of the time and fail to start (this is a different bug). If starting CF via cfstart.bat (when Command Prompt launched as an Administrator) it will throw an error and not start CF (this is also a different bug). I'll get these Update 3 start failure bugs filed tomorrow, along w/ a few REST ones.

Exactly the same issue with our systems this morning, can't believe this wasn't picked up in testing. Luckily still haven't moved to CF10 in production but this is already causing us a major issue.

We can't keep re-adding scheduled tasks every time we need to restart Coldfusion.

This is a big deal-breaker and makes CF10 an unfeasible option in a production environment. This has to be fixed asap.

+1 needs fixing ASAP. The updater is useless as it stands. Cheers. -- Adam

We are looking into this issue. The tasks are present in neo-cron.xml file but the admin page is not listing them.

While we fix this, note that you could uninstall the update to reinstate the scheduled tasks/list them in the admin

Hi Vamseekrishna, thanks - do you work for Adobe? Impossible to tell who is who on here! The tasks in neo-cron.xml might be there but we have already put some in via the UI to fix the urgent issues and only these are shown in the file.

Uninstallation of the update 3 does resolve this issue on a temporary basis until another patch / update is released. However, in my case I was only working with one scheduled task created with the update 3 applied. @cdsdave, have the revised tasks overwritten the existing content of neo-cron.xml?

@coldfumonkeh If you have added a new task since adding update 3 it appears to have overwritten the neo-cron.xml

@cdsdave - confirmed at this end. Existing tasks in neo-cron.xml (not visible in admin) were overwritten with freshly-added tasks.

Completely unacceptable that this update wipes out schedule tasks on every start.

Without making any changes to the admin config I uninstalled the updater 3 and all the scheduled tasks came back.

First: If this is confirmed, why is this ticket still marked "Unverified"? Can the status please be changed to "Confirmed" so that users know this issue is being resolved? Second: Updaters should _always_ create a .car file (ER #CF-3348487). The neo-cron.xml may not have the tasks if users have already begun re-creating them. Users should be able to restore back the tasks via the Updater-created .car file. Third: .car creation/deploy should be available in Standard Edition starting w/ CF11. Customers should be able to restore their settings after Updater-caused data loss, regardless of which edition they purchased.

After installing the Mandatory update and then running update 3 all of my scheduled tasks are now gone. when I began, I was on update #2. My platform is Win 2008 R2 64 bit running CF 10 standard edition.

Before I tried to do anything I just backed up << neo-cron.xml >> located in ColdFusion10/cfusion/lib/ so at lease I have access to what they were so that I can reenter them by hand if necessary. However, I'm not sure if they will stay after restart. When might this will be resolved? Days or weeks?

Ludicrous. Yet another reason to stay away from CF10.

Have all updates (including 3) been pulled from auto-update as they have disappeared from my administrator server update section?
Comment by External U.
17504 | October 19, 2012 12:35:03 AM GMT
A.P, we have pulled back only the update 3. If you have update 2 or 3 installed, you would not see anything in available updates, as you are already on the highest available update. Administrator shows only those updates whose numbers are higher than the update level of your server.
