invoke() should be deprecated b/c:
1) It isn't the solution for 3039641 that the community unanimously requested. That ticket should be re-opened.
2) We were told invoke() would be renamed or have all of <cfinvoke>'s functionality. Neither was done.
3) cfinvoke() already exists w/ all <cfinvoke>'s functionality. It just needs to be supported.

We don't see a reason to deprecate invoke. With regards to supporting associative array syntax (i.e. object[method](params)), we will evaluate it for the next version of ColdFusion.

Hi Vamsee, Thanks for the follow-up and for considering object[method](params). Could supporting cfinvoke() also be re-considered? It works, but is listed as not supported. Thanks!, -Aaron

Hi Vamsee, Where are we at regarding associative array syntax (i.e. object[method](params))? Aether? Thanks!, -Aaron

We can't deprecate invoke because of backward compatibility, As with regards to supporting associative array syntax we are already tracing it through https://jira.corp.adobe.com/browse/CF-3033950 and its implementation is in progress. I think we can close this JIRA.
