Problem Description: When using the left (or right) function to truncate a string values greater as 26 do under some circumstances not work

Steps to Reproduce: I had a database query giving longer strings. Who I tried to use the left function with a value greater 26 only the first 26 characters were given as result. The functions worked in most cases without problems when I defined a string with cfset.

Actual Result: only first 26 characters were given as a result

Expected Result: number of characters as defined in the function should be returned

Any Workarounds: No

Hi, Please share the information mentioned below: 1. ColdFusion settings summary 2. Are you using ColdFusion database driver or third-party database driver. 3. Is it ColdFusion's left/right function or its the part of SQL query?

It is the Coldfusion Function, not SQL.
