Problem:
We're discussing functionality to be deprecated for quite a while now. I think there's a strong need for a tool that allows operations/qa/testing to log any use of any deprecated functionality in CF 10 at runtime. My vision is that this is a tool that I can enable in the CF Admin or via a XML config file switch that will at compilation time of the CF file log any use of a deprecated tag, tag attribute, function, function argument etc - you get the idea. This will obviously create some performance hit, hence it has to be either undocumented in XML :-) - or labelled with big, fat, red letters in CF Admin.
Method:
There's a thread in the CAB forums, titled "Let's deprecate".I posted this idea on there and got point to the code migration tool in the CF Admin which isn't doing what I need. I've put a bit more justification in this post:https://prerelease.adobe.com/project/forum/post.html?cap=9421914C9C4B44D6882B8FB797A88F65&forid={356C98DD-FDF3-422E-94FF-D21CD452AB22}&topid={2EC76D70-C7AF-4A1E-A97A-ABA3127624F1}&repid={972E656A-B6B9-4308-B565-A1CC8C86E0E8}&tp=2Happy to provide more info and elaboration on why I think this is important. Just ping me if needed.
Result:
Enhancement request: Runtime logging of use of any deprecated functionality.
