Problem:

ColdFusion start problem on Windows System which has Turkish localeWhen we install any version of ColdFusion since CFMX with JRun backend (both standalone and multi server), if the operating system is Windows (XP, 7, 2003, 2008) and locale is Turkish (tr_TR), ColdFusion server does not start. This is not only ColdFusion problem. JRun has the same issue. When we deploy ColdFusion on other JEE engines, it works as expected. The Current WorkAround:1. Changing system level locale and restarting system helps. Because of having other applications which require Turkish locale as default, we can not request from users to change their system level locale into another one. Especially when they install Windows OS in Turkey with a country Turkey, it is always set to tr_TR.2. Changing system locale into another supported locale such as en_GB (because of having same European numbering standards etc.) on jvm.config file as following.* Open "[cfroot]\runtime\bin\jvm.config" file.* Add "-Duser.country=US -Duser.language=en" at the end of the "java.args" parameter.* Restart ColdFusion server. If the application needs to use Turkish locale, user can change locale onfly as "<cfset setLocale("tr_TR")>" to get Turkish locale support.Possible Effects: This is not a technical issue. It is also a huge marketing issue when we consider the new users who are downloading ColdFusion and it does not work as expected. Especially when we consider that they could not be aware about the workaround, they would just give up to try the product.Possible Solution: This looks like this is a JRun related issue and providing a patch for JRun/ColdFusion would be a proper solution.
Method:

* Install ColdFusion on a Turkish Windows OS which has tr_TR as default locale.* Change your Java locale (jvm.config) into tr_TR and try to start the ColdFusion server.
Result:

ColdFusion/JRun does not start.
