Problem:

If your ColdFusion instance is on a non-standard port, 9069 for example, the directory selector for mappings does not work. The error msg "Server Error IO error on server communication" appears within the applet, and no directories are shown. This problem has existed in every ColdFusion version I've used, I believe since 4.5.It's not completely true that there's no workaround, since you can enter a path manually, but if you're not sure of the correct path, it's a showstopper.
Method:

1. Set up a ColdFusion instance on a non-standard port, for instance 8051, 8060, 8069, or 9069 (those are ones I happne to have right now that I know don't work).2. Go into the Mappings page of the administrator.3. In the Add / Edit ColdFusion Mappings section, click the Browse Server button. The error msg given above is displayed, and no directories are shown.4. If desired, repeat these steps with an instance on port 80, and verify that it works correctly.
Result:

Server ErrorIO error on server communication
