Problem:
There is a bug in Centaur that existed in 8 and 8.01, confirmed to still be there as of Alpha 2. When running in Standard mode only (not developer or Enterprise), if one chooses to create a new datasource and selects "Apache Derby Embedded" as the driver type on the drop-down, the Admin takes the user mistakenly to the "other" driver (where they need to know jdbc urls and drivers).
If one does this in Enterprise or Developer edition (regardless of whether running Server, Multiserver or J2EE mode), the same steps take them to a Derby-specific page asking only for the db folder and whether to create a new derby db. This is clearly a bug, and again applies only to CF 9 (or 8) running in Standard mode.
I was able to confirm it being still a problem in 9 by using a CF8 Standard license key. It took it, and the System Info page still confirmed I was running CF9, albeit in Standard mode.
Method:
See above. Also, see more in my blog entry pointing this out, at http://www.carehart.org/blog/client/index.cfm/2009/3/2/bug_with_derby_on_cf8_standard
