Problem:
Turning on the "Use host operating system logging facilities" in the CF administrator causes a log4j error:
log4j:ERROR No syslog host is set for SyslogAppedender named "null".
Method:
On a multiserver/standalone install in Mac, log into CF Admin and go to the Logging & Debug section, Logging Settings page.
Check the "Use operating system logging facilities" checkbox and submit the form.
Stop the server and again start from console.
Go to a console or open a tail with the JRun log for that server instance and stop/start the JRun server. The above error will be the last message in the log for that startup.
If you then do this process with that checkbox cleared, the error does not occur.
Result:
log4j:ERROR No syslog host is set for SyslogAppedender named "null".
