It would be amazing if I could just specify a car file for a new instance right from the creation of the instance.

There is already a way of importing car file after creating an instance. So it does not look like much of value add.

I beg to differ. I seem to setup new installs several times a year (whether a new dev machine or test server) that are multiple instances. This especially happens when the latest CF update blows up my install again (i digress). I have car files sitting, ready to be deployed. So for the 3 or 4 instances I have to install I have to go to the cfusion instance, make the instances, go into the instances and load the car files. It would be so nice if the file input was right there on the instance creation page. Or even better would be a new feature to export some sort of settings files to produce a working server with vagrant and puppet/chef/etc.

This would be extremely useful to us as well. The fewer steps I have to take post-install (especially with a known-good configuration) the better.

+1. I can see merit in this.

It's a pretty shit attitude of yours, Nimit, to make an arbitrary decision about this, Nimit, and just close it. How about you ask for some discussion about it, or solicit other people's feedback first? This is not a race to avoid work, mate.

Is it possible to script an instance deployment and include the reimport of a CAR in one fell swoop? Anything that can be done in the UI ought to be doable from the shell, too.

+1....please reopen. If it is too hard to implement say so, but don't make subjective decisions based on what you would find useful. You're not the one spending thousands of dollars on a product or support for a product.

Another +1. If you want to be considered a viable cloud platform, deployment automation is absolutely critical.

Just piling on a little bit: Closing tickets as "withdrawn" when the submitter has not agreed that the ticket should be closed is disingenuous at best and downright rude. If you insist on closing the ticket, you should give it a status indicating that it was Adobe that decided this was not a valid ticket, NOT the submitter.

We understand that it's a good functionality to have but we already have a feature using which we can import car file to newly created instance and it's a time thing. We can still reconsider this functionality if we have enough vote.

If you don't have time to do it... LEAVE IT OPEN, just don't flag it "to fix". And why did you not explain that in the first place? Or are you just attempting some retconning to save face, Nimit?
