Problem Description:

When I tried to download the CF 11 installer from adobe.com I noticed that there is no possibility to download the install files directly anymore and one is now forced to install and use the Akamai download manager.

This is not acceptable. Many people work in a protected environment and are not willing/able/or not allowed by enterprise policy to install third party downloader applications. You really should provide a direct download link to the installer. The direct link provided on the download page ("file 1 of 1") does not work.

The download issue was also discussed in the Adobe forums - see this thread https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1729002. I agree with the thread opener, in many cases it’s just not feasible to install a download manager just to download a single install file. In order to download the Linux version it seems that one needs to install Windows first just to be able to install the dl manager!

Steps to Reproduce:

Try to download the Mac or Linux version of ColdFusion 11 server without installing Akamai download software.

Actual Result:

download does not work

Expected Result:

direct download link is provided and working

Any Workarounds:

none

Agreed. Using Akamai and its ilk might make sense for desktop apps (which is where Adobe's experience lies, hence probably the basis for this situation), but is unworkable for server-based apps, which are generally managed from a text-based CLI in a secure environment. The ColdFusion Team need to explain the difference between server apps and desktop apps to their marketing team, perhaps.

This is common for all Adobe products, and hence, it is not feasible to have a separate infrastructure for ColdFusion product alone.

Hi Vamsee, This issue was introduced in CF2016. In CF11, and previous, we could download the .exe directly. @All, On Windows you can locate the .exe in the Akamai directory. I found mine here: C:\Users\{UserNameHere}\AppData\Local\Akamai\Cache\trials3.adobe.com\adobeproducts\cstd\12\win64 Thanks!, -Aaron
