Title:

Enable/Disable Servlets Installer UI is confusing

| View in Tracker

Status/Resolution/Reason: Closed/Fixed/Fixed

Reporter/Name(from Bugbase): Peter Freitag / Peter Freitag (Peter Freitag)

Created: 03/09/2016

Components: Installation/Config, Installer

Versions: 2016

Failure Type: Usability Issue

Found In Build/Fixed In Build: Beta2_v12 / 2018,0,0,303787

Priority/Frequency: Minor / Some users will encounter

Locale/System: English / Win All

Vote Count: 2

Problem Description: It is not readily clear if checking a box will enable or disable a servlet.

Steps to Reproduce: Run installer and go to screen that says Enabling/Disabling Servlets

Actual Result:

"Select/deselect the servlets to enable/disable. You can also enable or disable these servlets later in <ColdFusion Webroot>/WEB-INF/web.xml:"

Expected Result: I think it would be more clear if it read something like this:

"Select a servlet to enable it, or uncheck to disable a servlet."

+1 - I agree w/ Pete and Dave. Pete's suggested wording in the description would be good to implement.

Agree that this needs to be changed, see note entered for comment.

Added By: PreRelease User User Name:Aaron Neff Note Added: Another idea.. maybe just change this: "Select/deselect the servlets to enable/disable." to this?: "Select the servlets to enable." That'd be consistent w/ a previous screen that says, IIRC: "Select the sub-components to install." Thanks!, -Aaron Date Added :2016-01-21 00:52:14.0 Added By: PreRelease User User Name:David Epler Note Added: The wording has always been confusing to me. Agree with Pete in changing the instruction to make it clear as to what checking or unchecking actually does is needed.
