Problem Description:

due to firewall issues, we sometimes have to manually update cf servers. the updater bits in cfadmin doesn't pick these up & if you only check the update menu it will always lag behind the actual update level. probably should add something to the hotifx JAR bits to add the manual update info to the log files that the update menu uses.

Any Workarounds:
check actual updates via the info link in cfadmin.

Hi Paul, Did you install updates with admin privileges ? If no , can you please try and let us know . 1. Launch the command prompt with admin privileges . 2. install updates with using coldfusion jre . Can you please also share updates level before and after ? and also share screenshot , where you facing cosmetic issue . Thanks, Mukesh

1) not sure as i didn't do the install, i'll check 2) pretty sure "yes". update level was from 15 to 19. sorry no screen shots as i only noticed after the fact. if you check the system info via cfadmin you can clearly see the correct update level but via the installer bits it was telling me level 15. cosmetic & probably caused by poor firewall management--some servers can update via the updater bits on some days, other times we have to do it manually. not sure this would be a common case.

Hi Paul, I have tried in my system and not able to reproduce the issue . Can you please share CF10 hotfix19 installation logs file ? You can also get in touch with the CF support team at cf.install@adobe.com for help with narrowing down the issue. Thanks, Mukesh

the person who did the install said they ran as administrator. ok i'll get the logs as soon as they make citrix work again (i don';t suppose there's any way to see from cfadmin?).

update logs attached. - hf19_manual is the log for the manual update - hf19_updater is the log for the update carried out via cfadmin updater also illustrates the issues we have for these servers, the firewall modifications to allow this server to update itself started working all of a sudden, so i was able to do an update via cfadmin. a few hours later the "hole" closed again. so, not really sure this would be a common case of mixing manual/auto updates. the manual update log seems to indicate that maybe the cf server service was still running. i double checked the manual install instructions & don't see any instructions to stop the service. so maybe that's the issue?

I am seeing the same issue with A CF10 server patched too 17 thru running the jar in a command windows however the VERSION is saying 16. CF still reports that it is the UPDATE LEVEL with the 17 jar files. So it appears like running the jar does not update the VERSION in the System Information page the same way the as using the Install button from inside the admin.

This happens when the hotfix doesnt have enough priviledge to stop the coldfusion server (as per your hf19_manual.txt) and few files are held by the server which results in unsuccessfull installation. Mukesh can you please confirm if the message "No Administrative Privilege" is shown in the above mentioned case. if not we should do it for CF10 and CF11 hotfix.
