Jim Pickering's idea. Posting on his behalf.

When text is pre-selected, then existing ctrl+/ behavior is helpful.  However..

When -no- text is selected, then ctrl+/ should:
1) place // left-of-cursor (not flush-left at gutter)
2) shift cursor 1 space to the right

Hi Vamseekrishna, Understandable and thanks very much for considering! Basically, ctrl+/ would add // in the same manner ctrl+shift+8 adds /**/ when no text is selected. Thanks!, -Aaron
