Problem:
Client Variables continually prepare and unprepare statements when using SQL Server. This is visible with SQL Server Profiler. Every client variable retrieval and update executes sp_prepare, then the statement, then sp_unprepare. I have seen this on SQL Server 2000 and 2005.
Method:
Connect a SQL Server database as the client storage mechanism. Write a small application that makes use of the client scope. Monitor the queries going to the client storage database when using the application.
