Problem:
Steps to repro:
1. Open datasource page in admin.
2. add a datasource with some name and any DB driver(MySQL (4/5) for example)
3. add any database and wrong credentials.
4. Hit submit, this will throw error on admin page and console
5. Check exception.log - there is no message logged.

We should log the database registration failure messages in exception.log
