Problem:
Have ColdFusion Instances (cfusion, cfusion1 and cfusion2)
All are running. Trying to install hotfix on cfusion2 from Administrator of instance cfusion2, nothing is happening.
I get the messages that ColdFusion will stop and started during the process of installation ................

Method:

Result: On clicking on "Download and Install" button from administrator it creates a properties file which contains the values of

INSTALLER_UI=silentUSER_INSTALL_DIR=C:$/$ColdFusion10DOC_ROOT=C:$/$ColdFusion10$/$cfusion$/$wwwroot$/$

Along with the above three the file should also contains INSTANCE_LIST which contains the {Instance_name} is missing in the properties file.
For which unable to install and uninstall the hot fix on instance on any individual instance apart from the main { cfusion }.

Expected: Must be able to install and uninstall from individual instance.

Workaround: Add INSTANCE_LIST={instance_name} and go to command prompt and install using the following command
 >java -jar hotfix_001.jar -f hotfix_001.properties

There is a workaround for this. We need to run the hot fix installer from either the Admin/Console of the main instance instead of the individual instance

Workaround: Installing/Un-installing the HotFix for individual ColdFusion instances from the ColdFusion Administrator will not work. As a workaround, run the hotfix installer from the command prompt or apply the hotfix from the ColdFusion Administrator of the main instance and select the instance to apply the hotfix to when prompted. Note that this will apply the HotFix to the main instance as well On Unix/Solaris/Mac OS X, for HotFix Installer to work from administrator you should have started the server with root user privileges. On Windows also you should have started server with administrative privileges (Comment added from ex-user id:vkonatal)
