Problem Description: After an undetermined amount of time (seemingly random) our application pool stops due to rapid failure in IIS. The error logs note repeated SEVERE: Error in getRealPathFromConn errors at the time of the crash. Many of them. Restarting Coldfusion alone does not fix the issue, a server restart is required. There is no visible pattern as to what is the "cause" of the error. We are running CF10 (Fully updated) on IIS7 Windows 2008 Server Virtural Machine. This problem did not exist in our old CF9/IIS6 combination.

This CF10/IIS7 Combo started in June. First getRealPathFromConn error was in August. Full crash first happened Jan 10 or 12. Attaching error log for reference.

Steps to Reproduce: Have people use your web applications and wait.

Actual Result: Application Pool Stops.

Expected Result: Application Pool does not stop.

Any Workarounds: I have set the Rapid Fire Maximum errors to 50, hoping Coldfusion won't fire more than that.

Comments:

I also see repeated "SEVERE: Error in getRealPathFromConn" errors in coldfusion-error.log. It always originates from an expandPath() that is called from w/in a Custom Tag, that is called from a custom exception handler. Application.cfc also uses expandPath(), but no error is ever logged for those calls. I'll see if I can narrow this down. Thanks!, -Aaron

Finally figured out I needed to run the Wisconfig.exe after the update 7. Even after that, systems crashed today, in same manner application pools stopped, however nothing in the error log.... WTF.

We get the same intermittent error on CF 10 update 11, Win 2012 64, IIS 8. Is there a fix?

Same issue for me. Running ColdFusion 10 with update 11 and the latest connector dated 05/23/2013. I have not tried any workarounds yet. Happening on 2 different installations very randomly.

We were unable to reproduce this issue on our end. Trying to have a look at the setup on the customer end. If anyone else has a bug repro, please contact me at inoel [at] adobe.com

I'm seeing the same Error: getRealPathFromConn after moving to Coldfusion 10 Update 14 from CF 9.0.2. I've rerun the connector and followed the connector tuning advice, but still see many of these errors in production.
