I've also been running into this problem since CF 7 (still happening on CF 10). Please fix this issue!! CFMail is not scalable!

We had to switch to using the Amazon SES API to send email due to this bug.

I'm seeing this on a windows based shared hosting server as well. In our case it seems to be based on the volume of email being sent, and we eventually tracked down an insecure contact form that had been hijacked by a botnet to send spam. This was creating a large volume of mail, increasing the time it took to queue mail.

Hi , Where are you spooling mail messages for delivery ? To disk or memory?

Hi I have tried sending thousands of mails but I am not able to reproduce. Can you give some additional information so that we can reproduce?

Sorry, no. The problem is sporadic, and so far we've been unable to find a reliable way of reproducing it.

It's very frustrating when issues are closed simply because Adobe has not been able to reproduce them. I just spent a considerable amount of time trying to figure out why some cfmail code on my CF10 install was not working, finally tracked it down to this issue. I'm running the latest updates on Mac OS, and restarting CF cleared up the problem.

Just to add to that, in this case it would definitely NOT have been due to email volume, as this occurred on my local development machine on which very little email gets sent. Spooling to disk.

Having this issue on CF9, was hoping an upgrade to CF10 would see this issue addressed

This bug initially impacts a small group of users (about 10) that experience work stoppage when unable to use emails to resolve issues with other associates. It has a greater impact on 100+ users that are knocked off the system when the ColdFusion service is restarted.
