Problem Description:
Getting javax.mail.MessagingException: Could not connect to SMTP host: xxxxxxx, port: 465, response: -1 error in ColdFusion

Steps to Reproduce: Setup mail setting in ColdFusion Administrator with Use SSL true. 

Actual Result:
generated .cfmail file doesn't include usessl:true and port:465 and this cause nondelivery of email.
Expected Result:
It should add usessl:true in generated .cfmail file.

Any Workarounds:
If we use same thing in cfmail tag it work fine. Visit my company blog for issue and resolution.

Many other users reported same issue with CF10 as well.

We're experiencing similar issues with CF10. Just like the above poster, mail that CF can't spool for whatever reason can be spooled once the contents of the file are edited. This does not always work, but in most cases it seems to solve the problem.

This bug if left unattended by the developer or administrator will delay thousands of business critical emails that will be stuck in spool unless manually resolved. Please look into this as this seems to be affecting both CF9 and CF10.

I am seeing a lot of these errors as well, and it seems to be something that has only just occurred in the last 4-6 weeks. I have been trying to get my host, Hostek to figure this out as well and they are at a loss to explain this too.
