SpreadsheetAddRows breaks on empty dates

| View in Tracker

Status/Resolution/Reason: Closed/Fixed/

Reporter/Name(from Bugbase): Miguel Arvelo / Miguel Arvelo (Miguel Arvelo)

Created: 09/05/2014

Components: Document Management, Office Integration

Versions: 10.0

Failure Type: Crash

Found In Build/Fixed In Build: Final /

Priority/Frequency: Major / All users will encounter

Locale/System: English / Linux All

Vote Count: 0

Problem Description:When creating a spreadsheet which contains date data fields that are empty for whatever reason the application breaks

Steps to Reproduce: Create a query with date fields and pass data to it leaving at least one of the date fields empty then pass it into the SpreadsheetAddRows function

Actual Result:The application breaks with the following error message: '' is not a valid date or timestring

Expected Result: A spreadsheet that contains the empty date data as empty cells

Any Workarounds:Convert any dates into strings. This then breaks the Excel sorting as it will now sort the dates alphabetically rather than by actual dates.

Miguel, This is fixed in CF11. Perhaps you can verify this with a developer edition of CF11.

Piyush, Even if this is fixed in CF11 our organization recently bought two CF10 Enterprise licenses and is in no position to get new CF11 licenses any time soon. This bug is negatively impacting our customers and we would like to see some fix or recommendation from Adobe other than buying new software. We appreciate your responses. Cordially, Miguel Arvelo

Is this issue going to be fixed for ColdFusion 10? I certainly hope so because requiring us to upgrade to ColdFusion 11 (Enterprise) will cost over $10,000. We already spent $10,000 to upgrade to version 10 within the year before ColdFusion 11 came out. We do not have another $10,000, or the time to spend upgrading to version 11 so soon after getting to version 10. The fact that Adobe does not give automatic upgrades to those who purchased within a year has me seriously questioning whether Adobe is a company that my company, Honeywell, should continue to do business with. The support we receive, or not, will matter greatly on whether we continue with ColdFusion and other Adobe products in our organization in the years to come. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated.

Verified this is fixed in CF10 Update 14 (10,0,14,291717). Also verified it works properly in CF11 (tested on CF11 Update 3 (11,0,03,292245(PreRelease))). Thanks!, -Aaron
