Comment on Superfluous Performance Monitoring Toolset (PMT) settings in ColdFusion when PMT not installed by A. B.
6289484 CF-4205362 Installation/Config: PMT Installer Allow External Elastic Search A nice feature of PMT would be to allow us to use our own Elastic Search instance. The benefits here would be to leverage existing infrastructure and also require less resources on the monitoring server.

yuliangr39032863 I had IT open the firewall from dev server to my workstation port 9250.   retried the PMT connection.   it thinks for a bit longer and then returns hard error.    I'm installing wireshark to see who is actually throwing this error, the pmt or the monitored node.

in the cloud, and the prospect of paying for another VM just to run the PMT is a bit much. We tried running it from our office and connecting to the CF servers through a VPN but the PMT was having none of that.  We were not able to get PMT to 'see' the servers over our VPN. So....we've left PMT installed

brian.klaas Are there any details on what was changed in the add-on installers? I don't see that in the tech notes — only that the PMT components of the CF server was updated.
Charlie Arehart Yep, Paul. It's a common problem. It's not that you CANNOT install the PMT on the same machine as CF, but you will nearly always find you should not. It is a beefy app (the PMT and the datastore, ElasticSearch), so for most it would generally be best to be put on its own machine, so

Charlie Arehart Rick, once you install it, then assuming it's installed correctly, it would be on that server (where you installed it) at port 9101, so for instance if you were on the server where it was installed, you could access it via http://localhost:9101/login. And if in installing it
Aaron Neff Hi All, These CF2018 Public Beta installers have been re-refreshed about 14 hours ago: - ColdFusion Windows installer - Performance Monitoring Toolset Windows installer - Automated Lockdown Windows installer CF build# changed from 2018.0.0.310409 to 2018.0.0.310608. The refreshed PMT
-Lockdown Significant here is that the PMT has a refreshed installer. I don't know if this includes PMT Update 1 or not. Note that if you go to the main download link for CF 2018 (http://www.adobe.com/go/trycoldfusion) it still offers the old installer. Note that the MD5 checksums posted on the download page are often

applied. installed the toolset and the services refused to start. The toolset logs seem  to indicate a connection issue with the datastore and I thought it might be a timing issue as well. But I applied the PMT update and the issue remains, services will not start regardless of the order I start them in
