If a developer gets one of these certificates, their posts on this site should note it somehow.

If this is a certification for experienced professionals, why on earth are there segments like these? Introduction to ColdFusion Getting Started with ColdFusion Builder ColdFusion Fundamentals This looks more like a class for beginners who want to cram for a test to get a cert for their resume that in no way reflects their actual retained skill set.

And that’s pretty much how all certs and cert prep courses work, right? At least those focused on the fundamentals of a given tech.

And to be clear, hopefully anyone considering the program (or assessing its value, as an employer) would see the list of topics and realize it is indeed oriented toward confirming CF fundamentals.

I will admit I had higher hopes when I first heard of the program, but once the details were shared, it became clear where it was focused, for better or worse. Just like the CF cert of years ago, it will benefit some folks and not others. There’s been significant registration, and those people would have seen the topic list, so should know what they are getting into. Seems it suits their interests.

Of course, it's a first presentation of it, and there are bound to be hiccups whether in how it has been marketed, how the course (all new) goes, how the videos go. They (Adobe) will surely learn lessons and hopefully would refine it as needed.

I am extremely interested in completing a certification in ColdFusion, however I will not be able to attend the CF Summit this year. Will there be other opportunities to complete this program after the summit? Say, by completing a day long online event en lieu of the workshop or by completing a similar workshop at some other event?

Happy to hear abode Adobe ColdFusion certification. I will not able to this join CF Summit. Is there any chances that Adobe is planning to have such summit in India soon?

I would be interested in seeing this as an offering on edX https://www.edx.org/. Microsoft does something similar with their Data Analysis courses where you can get a Verified Certificate after completion of the course.

Is this program only available to US residence?

This program is/was available only to those who attended the Adobe CF Summit conference in October. As explained in the post you are responding to, it was available to those who signed up/paid for the program in advance, watched the videos, attended pre-conference workshop, and took the exam AT THE CONFERENCE. To be clear, there was and is now no provision for any of that to be done after the conference. I have heard that they may offer it at the CF Summit East (in DC, in spring), but no firm plans have been announced. As for whether they would ever offer the exams other than at conferences, or indeed whether ever at conferences outside the US, again that has not been clarified. But again I seem to recall hearing discussion of hopes to offer it either online or in other countries (perhaps in road show events), but don't quote me on that. If the exams can't be arranged to be online for some reason, we can suspect that the chances for live events will be rather few and far between. But let's be clear (to head off comments that would surely come): the people behind the program are not stupid. If they COULD easily arrange for the exam to be online, they would. They certainly DO know that there are other organizations that offer such, and they certainly DO know that there are people who want to get the cert who could NOT attend the live events. And for all the people who thought "nobody cares about certs anymore", let alone for a "dead platform like CF", it sure seems that the clamor and high interest in these certs would suggest again that rumors of its demise are premature.

+1 for expanding certification opportunities beyond CF Summit.

+1 for leveraging a certification process similar to ColdBox’s. Despite my not having personal experience with Ortus' certification solution (yet), it appears to be an aporach that Adobe and Ortus could mutually benefit from.
